Finishing

When we first got started with the business, we really only ever used shellac and spray paint rattle cans. However, over the years, we've been presented with more and more finishing challenges, including the need to spray perfect nitrocellulose lacquer clear coat, polyurethane and spar varnish, airbrushing some of the more detailed color jobs and much more.

We can give your project an amazing high end clear coat finish or just something that will provide protection and everything in between.

Painting

Basic painting.

Outdoor Finish

When hen a project is going to spend a significant amount of time outdoors, it needs to have a finish that is able to protect the wood from the elements, including UV exposure. We typically recommend a spar varnish for most applications and marine spar varnish for extreme situations.

Masking

When v carving, painting the carved areas is much easier and cleaner if masking is applied prior to carving. We use Oramask products to accomplish this. Typically, the base color is applied and allowed to dry, then Oramask is applied over it and carved artwork can be painted searately with no bleeding.

Staining

Stain can be applied in any number of ways, including wiped on, brushed and spraying with HVLP and airbrush.

Clear Coat

There are many clear coats, with many application techniques and levels of perfection. Each project is different, so let us know how you'd like the finished project to look and we can recommend a suitable clear coat.

Food Safe Finishes

Butcher Blocks, cutting boards, charcuterie boards and serving trays all need to have a finish that is safe to be used with food, and we can work with those finishes for your projects.
